Brave Women are everywhere!

askwendyThe Brave Women 2018 Conference was amazing; what a privilege it was to be one of their exhibitors.  The conference was the brain child of Wendy Hinson, of AskWendy fame, and with a host of excellent speakers and interesting exhibitors, it really was a fantastic morning!

As an exhibitor, I naturally gravitated to networking with the other exhibitors and, not surprisingly, they were all extremely interesting to speak to and all had an undeniable passion for their particular project/business/product.

Below follows a little bit of information about each one of them; please support where you can:

Where Rainbows Meet:

Time2Change:

time2changeUsing hypnosis, which is simply a deep state of relaxation, Sophie Nortjie helps people who want to change but are somehow not quite sure how to go about it.   In hypnosis, which is 100% safe, the subconscious mind becomes accessible. The subconscious mind holds all beliefs and unhelpful thought, so these thought patterns can be accessed and changed whilst in hypnosis thus bringing about desired change.

Tercia Weideman – Miglio Independent Style Consultant:

miglioMiglio Designer Jewellery is best known for it’s versatility and interchangeable qualities. Necklaces can be worn long or short and enhanced with signature clip-on pendants. MPower Cup:

mcupThe Mpower Menstrual Cup is a menstrual management solution for all women and is made in Cape Town, South Africa.   The cup is of local design and manufacture ensuring that safety and design standards are monitored and controlled by the owner. The storage bag provided with each Mcup is made by a community project based in Ottery, Western Cape.

And the best part of the morning?

Well, the cup-cakes and coffee were excellent, but linking up with an ex-colleague and friend that I haven’t seem for about 30 years, was just amazing!  Suzanne Long is a cancer survivor and was one of the inspiring speakers; what a pleasure to reconnect with her!

Thank you Wendy!
I am certainly looking forward to Brave Women 2019!

Brave Women Conference

On Wednesday, 25 April, I am proud exhibitor at the Brave Women 2018 Conference.  Having just recently opened a Thrift Shop & Coffee Bar on our small holding, in Morning Star, I’m super-stoked to be promoting this shop at the conference.

The main focus of the thrift shop is to raise funds for the community PlotWatch and I do this by accepting donations of all types of goods and then selling the items in the thrift shop.  It’s a win-win for everyone as community members can donate goods knowing that items will be sold for a good cause while at the same time, other community members are able to buy much-need house-hold items, jewellery, baby items or toys at low-low prices.

safe_imageThe offer below is specifically for the delegates and other visitors to the conference.

Pictured below are some of the thrift shop items that will be available to buy at the event.  As a Justine Consultant, I’m happy to tell you that there will be some great Justine & Avon products on sale as well.

Prices are indicated below the images and if there are any delegates who would like me to keep an item or items aside for them, please email me at michelle@longman.co.za and I’ll do so with pleasure (t&c’s apply).   Stock is naturally limited as the items are all from the thrift shop.

Thrift Shop and Coffee Bar

“One Man’s Junk is Another Man’s Treasure” – this is such an old idiom, yet never has it be truer.

In today’s throw-away society, we sometimes forget how valuable something as simple as an old coffee mug can be to someone else.

We’ve always enjoyed selling old / second-hand / previously-loved goods – first to auction houses, then via the auction website, BidorBuy.  Later, we found Gumtree and FaceBook particularly successful but now that we’re living in a small community, we’ve realised that a physical presence has its value too.

And it’s becoming a trend: Thrift pop-up-shops and Vintage markets are appearing in the suburbs all the time.

We sell something for everyone; be it that single mug or a crystal water jug; toys and tools; linen, ornaments, pictures, kitchen utensils and-and-and …

Prices are always good; it’s a win-win for everyone.

Most of the items are donations, from the community – for the community (although we gladly accept donations from anyone ).  Funds raised from these donations are in aid of our local PlotWatch, a tireless team ensuring that all residents are kept safe at all times.

And if thrift shopping isn’t enough, we supply a great cup of coffee (or tea, if you prefer) while you browse the shelves.  Ranging from instant cappuccinos (we support Hug-in-a-Mug) to tasty South American brews (we support Vida e Caffé and Caffeluxe), you are sure to find a drink to suit your budget.

And of course, if you don’t want to shop – you welcome to sit under the trees and enjoy the coffee anyway while soaking up the tranquility that is farm-life.
